Peer Review Process

All papers submitted to LICAI, LICMH, and LICEF undergo double-blind peer review. Neither the author(s) nor the reviewers are informed of each other's identities during the review process, which helps ensure that manuscripts are evaluated solely on scholarly merit.

Review stages

Editorial screening — the editorial office checks that the manuscript falls within scope, meets formatting requirements, and has passed a plagiarism check before it is sent for review.
Independent review — each manuscript is evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant subject-matter expertise.
Editorial decision — based on reviewer reports, the editor issues one of four decisions: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject.

Timeline

The typical peer review timeline is two to four weeks from submission to first decision, consistent with the program's commitment to rapid, rigorous dissemination of research.

Revisions

Authors receiving a Minor or Major Revisions decision are given a defined period to respond to reviewer comments point by point. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or assessed by the handling editor, depending on the extent of changes required.

Appeals

Authors who believe a rejection decision was based on a misunderstanding of their manuscript, a conflict of interest, or a procedural error may submit a formal appeal to the editorial office, explaining the grounds for reconsideration. Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or an editor not involved in the original decision, and the outcome is communicated in writing.
